Fairtrade Fortnight 2015 highlights the power of YOU, encouraging all of us to “Choose Products That Change Lives”. At fairandfunky we are hosting our first fairandfunky Fairtrade Conference for Schools bringing together Primary Schools from across Kirklees to celebrate and learn about Fairtrade through creative arts and education workshops for students and teachers.
We are delighted to host guest blogs throughout Fairtrade Fortnight from our ‘Conference Champion’ Sponsors. Today’s blog is from Riasca:
“As soon as we heard of the fairandfunky initiative, the team at Riasca jumped in with both feet (it only took a short meeting after an introduction We were keen to offer our support and knowledge (and free paper!) of working with schools, colleges, and the local community – and at the same time help out a business we wholeheartedly believe in.
But who are Riasca?
Riasca are everything you need in one place. We offer design, print, stationery, office supplies and furniture to schools, businesses and organisations. We pride ourselves on being a nationwide company with a local focus.
Our work with schools and colleges
Schools are a key part of our business and they’re really important to us. As well as offering our full range of products and services, we have special deals on the items schools need like tinted papers and laminating pouches.
With our “Call off” system you can order a large batch and we’ll keep it until you need it, delivering what you require on demand.
We know schools are busy places, so we’ll walk you through the ordering process, as well as offering support for schools both environmentally and within the community.
Goody two shoes
The Riasca team are proud to support initiatives within the local community and environment including mock interviews with Royds Hall Community School, speaking to Kirklees College students and offering tree planting days within schools. We also support the charity Reading Matters, who work to mentor reading in schools.
How it started
It started, with Stewart Marshall, from a table in the back bedroom. And it started with paper and print. That was 2008, and now, in 2015, we’ve expanded a bit.
We work with over 100 schools and businesses in the West Yorkshire area alone, many of which have been with us from day one. Oh, and we’re not in that back bedroom anymore.
These days Stewart still run the show, along with Paul Buckley, as managing and creative directors respectively, with an awesome team sitting beside them boasting a wealth of knowledge across paper, print, design, marketing and branding.
