We have been twittering on about GIANT postcards recently so thought we’d update our blog with an explanation!
We have collaborated with Holmfirth Arts Festival on a new series of exciting recycling workshops, entitled “Holmfirth Driftwood”.
All our workshops encourage participants to have a sense of place in the world; to think about where they live and the impact their actions have on their local and global communities. This project does just that, using waste materials found in and around Holmfirth (Holmfirth’s driftwood!) to create giant postcards that will engage the community as a whole.
In “Holmfirth Driftwood” we are creating 9 giant postcards during fairandfunky creative workshops in local schools, each representing a different view of Holmfirth – from landscapes, and buildings, to the people, the hidden treasures and an imagined Holmfirth-on-Sea. The finished postcards will reside in shop windows throughout the festival, and festival goers will be invited to take a postcard trail through the town.
In each workshop we have discussed with the children, their images of Holmfirth and so far we have…
These photos are just a little sneaky peek at part of the GIANT postcards to be displayed in shop windows across Holmfirth in June. Come along to the festival from the 13th June to see them in full! For more information about all festival events see www.holmfirthartsfestival.co.uk
