We absolutely love running SCRAPtastic after school clubs in our local schools. We’ve heard rumours that some parents are worried about children joining our club and coming home with armfuls of junk modelling – but NO!! SCRAPtastic after school club creates meaningful art by repurposing and reusing household rubbish. It’s different to other clubs as we only ever use recycled materials and talk to the children about waste and recycling as we craft.
From Autumnal wreaths and Christmas decorations, to elephants that never forget to recycle. From parrot pen pots and yoghurt pot bird feeders, to masks made from fabric scraps we have diverted A LOT of waste from landfill and had a lot of fun in the process.
We have a team of recycling volunteers who save their rubbish for us to use – do you live in Holmfirth and would like to be one of our reuse heroes?! We’re currently saving juice cartons, 4 pint milk bottles, 2 litre plastic bottles and corner yoghurt pots. We don’t want you to buy these things especially for us, but if you are using these items and throwing them away – please clean them and throw them in our direction rather than the bin!
