fairandfunky needs YOU!

fairandfunky was established as a Community Interest Company in 2012, to deliver creative workshops to schools and community groups on issues of local and global sustainability: Fairtrade, recycling and the environment. We also run events, manage an on-line and pop-up shop, and facilitate conferences for both primary and secondary schools. As fairandfunky embarks on the next 5 years of ‘empowering people to take their own little steps to change the world’ we’d like new directors to join the team.

We’re looking for new directors to help challenge our thinking, develop our range of workshops, focus our strategic plans and share our passion to change the world. We’re specifically looking for people with one or more of (but not limited to) the following skills:

  • An understanding of running a social enterprise
  • Marketing to schools
  • Education
  • The Arts
  • Fundraising expertise

fairandfunky is based in Holmfirth – but you don’t have to be! The role of a director is a voluntary unremunerated position but directors can claim a contribution to travel expenses.

Currently, the board of directors meets formally 3 times a year (including the AGM in May) and informally as and when required. As our board of directors changes and grows this may change – but you would be part of that decision too. As a director you’d also be invited to get involved with fairandfunky at events.

Ideally we’d like to meet with directors informally too – and create a way of working that suits busy lifestyles. We may meet and discuss a new funding opportunity as we go for a walk, or over a coffee, or a beer. We may work together on ‘fairandfunky away days’ developing a strategy for the next 12 months and the next 5 years. Our new directors will help lead this and time commitments will vary according to your involvement.

Applications to be a fairandfunky director are always open. But we’re looking to start 2018 with a refreshed board – if this is something you’d like to consider please email both helen@fairandfunky.com and sophie@fairandfunky.com with an ‘expression of interest’, introducing yourself and explaining why you would like to be a fairandfunky director by November 30th 2017.

We look forward to hearing from you, sharing more about what fairandfunky do and why we do it and working together to change the world.

“I believe we’re all interconnected and a part of nature, and I see how our individual decisions add up to make an impact on the wider world. Championing Fairtrade by supporting fairandfunky helps me to make my impact on humanity and the environment a more positive one. I enjoy getting involved in the fairandfunky schools conferences, and seeing the positive impact they have on the children who take part.” Anna – fairandfunky director
