world from HolmeThe fairandfunky One World Week Conference: ‘Food For Thought’ brings together Primary Schools from across Kirklees to discover how we are all connected by the food we eat!

 

Interactive workshops involving creative arts, real life stories, and treasure hunts from fairandfunky, Stirley Farm, and Liberation Nuts will explore local and global food sustainability issues – discovering Fairtrade facts, exploring the local supermarket and eating delicious local sourced food!

 

The conference is supported by The Food For Life Partnership, and will help schools progress on the ‘Eco-Schools’ journey.  During lunch delegates can browse information stands, shop with fairandfunky and take part in the rice challenge. The event will close with certificate presentations from the Mayor of Kirklees.

 

Each student will take part in the following workshops:

Fairtrade and Chocolate fairandfunky Through role play and chocolate tasting find out about the people behind the product and how Fairtrade can make a difference to producers.
Food Sustainability Stirley Farm This workshop explores how we are all connected by the food we eat, and the ways in food production affects the natural world.
Brazil Nuts from Bolivia! Liberation Nuts Jam-packed with facts, stunning photos and real life stories travel from the farms of Bolivia to your plate and discover who grows your food.
Food around the world The Co-operative Take a treasure map to the co-op and discover the world in your supermarket!

 

Friends-of-Eco-Schools-Large-RGBThe conference welcomes schools in Kirklees to bring 8 students and 2 teachers at a cost of £100 per school. An early bird discount of 10% is available if you book before the end of the Summer term.
